SURROUNDINGS AND THINGS TO DO San Pietro in Bevagna (3 km) is a small family oriented sea side resort and offers bars, restaurants, cafés, shopping for groceries and a market in summer. The chic town of Campomarino (10 km) has elegant beach bars and a marina. In Torre Colimena (10 km), an authentic fishing village, there are several fish restaurants and shops where you can buy fish coming fresh from the boat. Alongside are the dunes of Palude del Conte, a beautiful nature reserve, stretching to the famous beach of Punta Prosciutto. Maruggio (6 km), a cute small town, inhabited all year-round, offers all kind of shops and excellent local cuisine. And if you’re looking for a bigger town – Manduria (10 km), famous for its red wine Primitivo – offers everything you can expect of a modern and at the same time historical place. There you will also find "Familia", a hypermarket for all your needs.

BEACHES The beaches in this area of the Ionian Sea are white, fine sand beaches with crystal clear, turquois water – bathing is a pleasure, especially in summer where sea temperatures rise up to 25 degrees °C! Close to the villa there are mainly coastal sand dunes. Even during high season you can still find a spot of your own here and take your dog with you. If you rather want to rent a comfortable sun lounger and umbrella, you have the chance at plenty of the small sea resorts lining the coast.

EATING The landscape of Salento is characterized by vine, olive trees and cactuses, and the unique trulli, traditional Apulian round dry stone huts with conical roofs. Here you will find many wine yards, olive oil producers and small markets where you can buy directly from the producer. In the many masserie (typical rural farm houses) and country guesthouses you can enjoy the tasty food of Puglia, based mainly on fresh, sun ripened and natural products. Add tasty wines, the warm hospitality of the south and low prices – there you have a real pleasure going out!

CULTURAL SITES Guests interested in cultural activities will also find plenty of things to do and see in Puglia. Villa Lona lies in the “Magna Graecia”, the antique part of Southern Italy colonialized by the Greek. By Manduria the Messapians left amongst other things gravesites and a wall. There is also a museum for primitivo there. Other historical places are the port city of Galllipoli, the baroque Lecce, Matera, the soon to be European Capital of Culture 2019 with its sassi – caves, Alberobello and its complete town of trulli, and the ceramic town of Grottaglie, just to name a few. Beautiful places, being a part of UNESCO’s world heritage program.

SPORTS Swimming, horse riding on the beach, wind surfing, snorkelling, go cart, mini golf
